These elephants can be found on the island of Sri Lanka. They are used to the rain forest and tropical woodlands.
Predators:
The main enemies of these animals are poachers and tigers. The poachers kill them for their ivory tusks.
Defense Mechanisms:
To defend themselves the Sri Lankan Elephants raise their head and trunk then extend ears and start swiping their feet on the ground. Then they charge at the predator flailing their trunks in the air. If the predators goes to attack family members they will kill them by picking up the predator with their trunk and slowly suffocating them by stabbing them with their trunks. During this to protect the baby elephants they place them in between their legs.
Threats:
Some threats to these elephants are habitat loss because of forest clearing and human elephant conflict.
